Alphamin Resources achieves record tin production in 2025

Alphamin Resources (Alphamin) achieved record mine production despite a challenging year subject to operational disruptions.

Alphamin reported tin concentrate production of 18,576t Sn from its Bisie tin mine complex in the DRC, representing a 7% y-o-y increase. The production growth was supported by the Mpama South mine, which operated for most of the year but was temporarily shut down due to security concerns.

In Q4 2025, tin production reached 5,008t Sn, exceeding Alphamin’s quarterly target of 5,000t Sn, signalling sustained operational recovery following disruptions faced earlier in the year.

Full-year production exceeded the revised guidance of 18,000–18,500t Sn, despite the temporary suspension of operations in March 2025 due to escalating security concerns as the M23 non-state armed group advanced toward North Kivu, where the Bisie tin mine complex is located.

Consequently, Alphamin reduced its initial annual production guidance of 20,000t Sn during this period; however, a phased operational resumption from mid-April resulted in a strong rebound in mine output in H2 2025.

Production rose by 26% q-o-q, reaching 5,190t Sn in Q3, prompting Alphamin to raise its full-year guidance from 17,500t Sn to 18,000–18,500t Sn, which was surpassed by the end of Q4.

The Bisie tin mine complex, comprising the Mpama North and Mpama South mines, is one of the largest primary tin operations, accounting for 6.3% of global tin mine supply, according to Project Blue estimates.

Alphamin’s performance in 2025 was particularly notable against the backdrop of a persistent supply squeeze in the tin market throughout the year. Ongoing uncertainty about Myanmar’s tin production outlook and regulatory pressure on tin assets in Indonesia contributed to limited supply and an overall tight market.

Despite the supply squeeze, according to Project Blue, global mine production increased by 1% y-o-y in 2025.

Alphamin’s boosted production played a key role in offsetting some of the mine supply shortfall due to Myanmar’s gradual restart of operations. Notably, Alphamin has set its tin production guidance for 2026 at 20,000t Sn, continuing to supply significant volumes of tin during a prolonged supply deficit.
