Senior Consultant

Please note - while the ideal candidate will be based in our office in Stellenbosch, South Africa, we are happy to consider remote working arrangements for candidates who are based elsewhere in Africa.

This is an initial 12-month contract role, with the possibility to become a permanent role thereafter.

At Project Blue, we provide market intelligence on critical materials and strategic industries.

Our focus is on understanding the complexities of rapidly evolving supply chains and translating this knowledge into accurate data, unbiased analysis, and expert insight, to support industry and government decision makers.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our team and to support our analytical and market intelligence capabilities.


The role involves two critical functions: research and project management.

The research functiown involves monitoring, collecting and communicating news and informal reports related to mining projects, infrastructure, and political developments across Africa.

The project management function involves coordinating insights from the broader team and producing strategic reports for clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain specialist expertise in local news, social media, and data sourcing across Africa to support Project Blue’s research team in mining and critical material supply chains
  • Keep up-to-date with major players, projects and policy developments relevant to these markets
  • Build relationships with regional industry, media, and government contacts
  • Support research projects and consulting work across the company

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in mining and metals markets
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English
  • Experience with the mining, industrials, or logistics industry in Africa, ideally across multiple commodity markets
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to summarise reports and policy documents and communicate their relevance to nontechnical audiences
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Proven ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement changes as needed
